WE ARE IN THE PRESENCE OF GREATNESS!

Ladies and gentlemen! I don’t know if you saw the latest comment under my Bash the Haggis post, but it reads as follows:

Hello,

My name is Ed and I had Bash the Haggis built a couple of years ago. I'm chuffed that you are all enjoying it.

Best wishes from sunny Edinburgh,

Ed
ps I've never managed to break the 840 mark myself.

On behalf of all the regular irregulars here at the Virtual Tapas Bar, I’d like to raise a wee dram and propose a toast.

All hail Ed! The man who has done more for Haggis Diplomacy than anyone since Robert Burns !

Thanks, Ed!

Cheers to Ed for his excellent time-waster! (That's gained me new status as quite the haggis basher on VTB.)

But what the heck does "chuffed" mean? Apparently I don't speak Scotch (or Scottish, whatever)...

"Chuffed' means proud ... can't you tell? ;)

Kiwis and Brits use it too I think.

"I'm dead chuffed about the way they turned out" ... says Sal, looking down at the 6 golden brown chickens his 'Salivator' just produced.

And to think...a few weeks ago, most of you didn't know what "haggis" meant either.

Very sweet introduction to the Haggis Culture. Not only my virtual batting has improved considerably but also I have developed an emotional tie to these meatballs. Now, the next object I'm buying will be named "Haggis"!

Everything I know about life, I learned at the VTB. Thanks, wandering woman!

But I still don't think I'll be buying any haggis anytime soon. I'll stick to bashing it.

Thank you again Sal. I remember being sent a link to this wee critter-bashing site a couple of years back. I don't remember my score then, so I had to just have another go and got a respectable 739.

A web search for haggis and neeps turned up this recipe: http://www.ivillage.co.uk/food/tools/recipefinder/display_recipe/0,10193,6140,00.html

Now all I need to do is learn the Spanish for the ingredients and see if my local butcher has them.

Cheers, Ed! You have improved our hand-eye coordination ten fold, I'm sure.

My goodness, the VTB is turning into a veritable international encyclopedia of food, facts and fun.

Sigh ... they renew the scoreboard on haggis bashing. One can't rest on one's laurels, one has to renew them. The dream of long-lasting fame is over in a moment.
