WAIF, WAIF...DON'T TELL ME.

One month in the US, and I've already gained six pounds.

Wouldn't you know it?! Just when opportunity finally comes knocking!

Sal -
Keep up da good work! May I recommend the Francheezie?

A hot dog stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon, and deep-fried. Good eatin'!

(That picture has totally put me off my breakfast, thank you very much!)

6 entire lbs?? Scandalous! :-) But it's very good to know that either the restaurants in Chicago or the women in your life have managed to fatten you up a bit.

Have you been listening to my favorite show on NPR? (I know, my nerdiness is showing again.)

We've missed you! The husband and I are heading to Chicago this weekend to exchange Valentine's Day gifts -- Winslow Homer/Edward Hopper exhibit at the Art Institute for me, deep-dish pizza for him. But male modeling ceased being an option for him around the time he discovered XBox. ;)

TBF: That sounds like the CHicago equivalent of Turducken. I've not tried a Francheezie, but I couldn't help but devour a Portillo's Chicago dog a few weeks ago. I am very, VERY interested in hitting Hot Doug's in the near future for some gourmet "encased meat" with a side of duck fat fries. I hate to tantalize you with that image, but I suspect that you'd return the favor were the tables turned. Hey...maybe we can grab a bite when on your next visit.

Christina: My recent weight gain is solely attributable to those two women. But it was weight that I needed. When I landed here, I was at or below my high school weight--which may be admirable in a woman, but not in a guy. I'm still 9-12 pounds under my fighting weight and 16lbs. below my maximum weight (when I bulked-up on a bet in 1990); so my work is not yet finished.

Ang: I'm also a fan of "Wait, Wait." It's incredibly witty, and a great way to kill a Saturday morning. Keep me posted on future trips into Illinois. Sooner or later the stars will align and we can double-date.

Trac: Hey, Trac! You know the best thing about being back here? Elvis Death Day. Every August, like clockwork, some Chicago cabaret will offer a line-up of E-impersonators. I've wanted to go for years (last year, there was a great 30th Anniversary show...but I was flying back to Spain on that day). The King and I are brothers in weight gain.

So you do blog sometimes still huh.

Yours mournfully and completely out of the loop,
One of the old crowd from the formerly 'blogpost almost daily' tapas bar scene.

I guess weight gain means you're happy? :)
