AND NOW FOR ANOTHER MOMENT OF SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION.

Have you ever found yourself wondering, “Why hasn’t Sal ever written about cocktails that are set on fire before drinking?”

Well, stop wondering...because now I have.

My scholarly dissertation on the flaming Galician cocktail called “Queimada” is now published in The Spirit World.

Check it out by clicking HERE.

wow... Impressive! So it becomes carmelized? I'm presuming the alcohol is all burned off? What does it taste like? The blue flame is lovely! Want a challenge? Get this thing on tape. I would enjoy watching/hearing what goes on and the "instant" feedback of initial consumption.

Granny Jo:

I don't have the slightest idea what it tastes like. I was just a spectator. Some day before I die, I'll drink a glass of Queimada and eat a plate of Turducken. But until that time comes, I can only dream.

Sal- You have to do this at the Expatapalooza 2007. I don't care what it takes. Go ahead... Bribe me... what Swiss specialty may I bring? Toblerone? Vacherin cheese? Whaaattt???

If this isn't the official drink of Expatapalooza, well, I don't know WHAT I'll do.

FYI, I did register Expatapalooza. com. Nothing there yet, but stand by!

Um, does anyone ever try to recite the "conxuro" *after* he's had, let's say, 5 or 6 small earthenware cups of the stuff? I imagine that could be quite amusing.

If that becomes the official drink of Expatapalooza you may NEVER get us out of your basement. :-)

I have always loved seeing my dad preparing it and enjoying hiself so much. Now that I can drink alcohol ( an din front of him lol ) I haven't got the chance to taste it. I might ask him to takeme somewhere I can have it at once.

Excellent devil blue colour. The only flaming drink I`ve had is B52. You suck it in through a straw while it`s still on fire.

By the way, is the Expatalooza 2007 strictly for site veterans only?

Well, Tinakala, I think I know Sal's answer already. But I can say this much: If you've been lurking here for such a long time, you belong to the faithful VTB chat lounge. This is the VTB love train, right Sal?

Tinakala: C-Swiss is correct. The VTB Love Train has open seating for anyone Chat Lounger who happens to be in Europe on Expatapalooza Day and doesn't chew food with his mouth open.

Obviously you wrote 'and doesn't chew food with his mouth open' because women are made of sugar and spice and all things nice, meaning they would never ever chew with their mouths open.

Love train ... I haven't been in Europe long enough to get into all that sleazy stuff people ... I shall be your moral guardian and traindriver (the one taking photographs which may later be sold for profit ;))

Nice article, the poem has a certain appeal but ... well, blue flaming drink, I guess that's blog posts all round and for everyone.

HA! Turducken huh? That's something I've been hoping to try in the not to distant future myself. You know you can order them online? Don't know if they export though.

Have you ever tried a "Tarta de Whiskey"?
